Role Description This is a part-time, on-site role for a Cafe Assistant and Barista based in Wareham, MA. The role includes preparing espresso-based drinks and brewed coffee, handling bakery items, and ensuring food and beverage presentation standards are met. Daily responsibilities involve taking customer orders, operating the POS system, handling cash and card transactions, and maintaining a clean, organized front-of-house, including tables, counters, and equipment. The Cafe Assistant and Barista will restock supplies, support opening and closing procedures, and follow all food safety and hygiene guidelines. This role also requires providing courteous, efficient service, answering questions about menu items, and collaborating with the bakery team to support a smooth and friendly customer experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service and hospitality, including friendly, professional interaction with guests and effective handling of busy periods.
• Basic barista skills, such as working with espresso machines, steaming milk, and preparing consistent coffee and tea beverages.
• Comfort with point-of-sale systems, cash handling, and accurate transaction processing.
• Understanding of food safety, cleanliness standards, and the ability to maintain an organized work area.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move bakery supplies, and perform routine cleaning tasks.
• Strong communication skills, reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude toward teamwork and learning.
• Previous café, restaurant, or retail experience is preferred but not required; on-the-job training may be provided.
• Availability to work a part-time schedule, including mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
